Latan Data Centre – Powering APAC’s Digital Future from Northern Queensland
The Latan Data Centre Campus is a next-generation, 100MW+ modular facility designed to deliver secure, sovereign, and sustainable digital infrastructure — from the heart of North Queensland. Strategically located near major energy and fibre corridors, it offers enterprise, hyperscale, and government clients a future-ready solution outside congested metro zones.
The project is under active development, with land secured, initial infrastructure committed, and engagement progressing with global energy and technology partners.
Purpose-built to support AI workloads, hyperscale cloud expansion, space-tech, government, and critical enterprise use cases, Latan offers the scalability, energy strategy, and network diversity required for the next wave of APAC’s digital growth.
With flexible leasing models — powered shell, turnkey, and hybrid — and supported by robust energy and fibre infrastructure planning, the Latan Data Centre will be positioned as a core regional node in Australia’s sovereign digital infrastructure network.
Strategic Location — Global Connectivity
Located 147 km from Townsville and 24 km from Charters Towers, at high elevation and outside the higher-risk cyclone zone
Situated within North Queensland’s renewable energy triangle (the Flinders REZ corridor)
Access to multiple diverse fibre paths, including:
DJSC subsea cable via Darwin (to Singapore and Jakarta)
Sunshine Coast SC1 cable (to Guam, Asia and the USA)
Long-haul fibre to Sydney metro and cloud enterprise zones.
Low Latency — High Throughput
Despite its regional location, the Latan campus delivers low-latency round-trip performance to key APAC hubs via diverse fibre infrastructure. It is ideally suited for AI inference, edge CDN, and data-intensive cloud backup workloads. Latency is optimised through carrier-neutral architecture and international route diversity.
Powered by Renewables — Designed for Resilience
At the heart of Latan’s infrastructure is a renewable-integrated energy platform:
On-site solar generation and a battery energy storage system (BESS), supporting peak load management, overnight resilience, and future grid-interactive operations.
Power import via long-term renewable PPAs.
Existing grid connection with a scalable pathway to CopperString 2032 (High Voltage Transmission Line).
The project is being engineered to meet Tier III and Tier IV availability standards (depending on customer requirements), with a focus on low emissions and highly efficient water use. The campus layout and infrastructure flexibility enable built-to-suit configurations for diverse customer profiles.
Built for Critical and Emerging Use Cases
